Case Study

The Problem:

The owner of a 47 unit produce hauler called us for help. Their current agent offered an extremely high renewal rate. Several insurance companies had declined to offer a renewal due to poor safety scores and rapid growth.

Our Findings:


We discovered that the incumbent agent (a large national trucking agency) had failed to adequately showcase the client’s safety improvements. No reasonable explanation was presented to the underwriters regarding the rapid growth concern.

Our Solution:

By working closely with the client and with our underwriters, we were able to clearly demonstrate the significant safety improvements and document their plan to handle owner-operator growth. In addition, we recommended, and implemented, an aggressive safety program geared towards accident reduction and assisted in developing a driver training program.

The Results:

We were able to help this trucking company secure a mileage reporting form policy and a 7% overall reduction in the annual insurance renewal premium. This produced an annual savings of $42,000. We were also able to broaden the cargo policy to include coverage for wetness and spoilage – a coverage gap found after a thorough review of the company’s operations and the insurance policies.
